Local Author Empowers Abuse Survivors

ORLANDO, Fla. - Local Author Kathleen Schubitz has responded to the growing awareness of the sexually abused and assaulted. According to RAINN.ORG (Rape Abuse Incest National Network) every 2 minutes someone in U.S. is sexually assaulted, and every 8 minutes 1 rape occurs.

Finding Purpose after Abuse, published by RPJ & Company, has been released with a purpose of its own: to bring awareness of this pervasive malady of our society and to help women in recovery. Author Kathleen Schubitz embraces the subject matter in a way only someone who has walked the walk can.

Her sensitivity and encouragement are paramount in making the book speak to the victims of these dark crimes. In her book, Ms. Schubitz speaks not only from her own pain and sorrow, but from the hope and comfort she found in scripture.

She is a Christian author and her book is filled with biblical passages. During a time when the focus of many cable and network talk shows (Nancy Grace, On The Record with Greta) are honed in on victims of crime, the public is listening hard. Finding Purpose after Abuse is clearly a sincere attempt to create a path to hope and forgiveness after traveling the dark road of despair, shame and guilt. In keeping with the drum beat that grows louder and louder as witnessed by the recent bill proposed by U.S. Senator Kerry and Congresswoman Doris Matsui with the introduction of the Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act of 2008, sexual assault is on everyone’s mind. The FBI reports that this is the number one crime reported on the high seas. Like the proposed bill, Ms. Schubitz proposes specific actions to get past the pain and sense of shame.

Health care professionals, teachers, ministers, medical professionals and victims themselves are singing the praise (see testimonials) of this new release. The book sets itself apart by the thought-provoking poetry sprinkled throughout the chapters, and the encouragement overlaid on every confessional page. It is a good read for those who have been sexually assaulted and those who have not, but wondered how to go from negative to positive thinking. Kathleen Schubitz shows us how.
